The Top 5 Reasons For Outdoor Bodyweight Training

Bodyweight training and especially outdoor bodyweight training is becoming more and more popular among fitness freaks and those who want to become one. With bodyweight exercises you not only improve your strength, but also your balance, your coordination and you build muscles. Bodyweight training is at least as effective as conventional strength training and it prepares your body optimally for the stresses of everyday life. This is because the training promotes the interaction of your muscles (keyword: inter- and intramuscular coordination), i.e. the exercises do not train the muscles in isolation from each other, but always address several muscles, which is also the case with all everyday movements.

With bodyweight training you can train the entire body - from the calves to the abdomen to the arms and to the shoulders. In this article we will explain the benefits of outdoor bodyweight training. Before that, let's answer the question of what bodyweight training is in the first place.

 

What is bodyweight training actually?


Bodyweight training is composed of self-weight exercises, i.e., the resistance in this training is mainly determined by the body weight and there is almost no use of aids such as fitness equipment and weights. However, this does not mean that you cannot additionally increase the loads by using special aids (e.g. pull-up bar, pull-up band, gymnastics rings, elastic bands). Well-known bodyweight sports include Freeletics or Calisthenics.


Typical bodyweight exercises are:

  • Squats
  • Burpees
  • Lunges
  • Crunches
  • Sit-ups
  • Push-ups
  • Dips
  • Pull-ups

Advantages of Bodyweight Training


The biggest advantage of the workout is that it can be done anytime, anywhere - whether it's at the office, in your own home, at the park, or at the beach. Everything you need for the workout is with you, namely your body.


Compared to strength training with free weights, the risk of overload and injury is significantly lower with deadlift training. In addition, the core, i.e., the torso muscles, are strengthened to a special degree. Overall, you burn significantly more calories with this form of training, which is especially advantageous if you are aiming for a low body fat percentage and a six-pack.


What are the advantages of outdoor bodyweight training?

In addition to the benefits explained above, there are other advantages to outdoor bodyweight training. The fresh air and sunshine alone provide an increased sense of well-being.
