Oh, it was like that?! Our portable pull-up bar and the Oktoberfest...
We are both growing up in the contemplative Allgäu (Southern Germany) and get to know each other in 2010 while studying industrial engineering in Kempten. It quickly becomes clear to us that we are different and that we do not want to pursue an ordinary 9 to 5 job in a corporation. Together we start our first own projects during our studies like student events or start a human resource marketing company. These own projects are much more fun to us that we realize: one day we have to do our own thing, but what exactly?! Something will come up in the end... In spring 2015 we successfully complete our studies. We, that are Michael (l.) and Johannes (r.). Nice to meet you! Here is an overview of our company history - with all the associated ups and downs. The origin of Pullup & Dip
From a product idea to a global brand with over 500,000 customers
Here is an overview of our company history - with all the associated ups and downs.
First prototype
We are regularly doing our Freeletics workout at the Theresienwiese, the location of the world-famous Octoberfest. There we are diligently doing pull-ups on the bar of the football goals. Not a perfect pull-up bar, but you can pull yourself up. A little later, the construction of the Octoberfest begins and the whole location is being closed. This removes our possibility for doing pull-ups and there is no Calisthenics park nearby. We are creative and start to weld a first mobile pull-up bar for a tree in the garage of Michael's father.Second prototype

This removes our possibility for doing pull-ups and there is no Calisthenics park nearby. We are creative and start to weld a first mobile pull-up bar for a tree in the garage of Michael's father.Beginning 2016
We're developing more prototypes of a mobile pull-up bar and are getting closer to our goal. Because we want to train at home during bad weather, we start to develop a wall adapter for the wall mounting. At the beginning of 2016, we decide to open a Facebook page and present the product to other athletes with pictures and videos. The feedback from the community is great and many athletes from around the world also want such a product to make their workout more flexible. Why not dips as well?
We construct and test further and come up with the ingenious idea that we could simply rotate the mobile pull-up bar due to the oblique design by 180 ° to do dips with corresponding handles. The community celebrates this feature and more and more athletes request the product. Now we are about to launch the product ... but how do we actually finance mass production and inventory?! For a first serial production a large order quantity and a lot of starting capital is needed. Our start-up capital we already used for the many prototypes and the development. Someone randomly mentions the idea of crowdfunding and we decide to prepare a crowdfunding campaign with Kickstarter.Preparation for Kickstarter
Whilst our designer improves the product with our feedback night to night and gives it the finishing touches, we record our crowdfunding video, take pictures, prepare the Kickstarter campaign and continue to heavily promote the upcoming launch.Over 200 pre-orders from 20 nations
Even a last load test with 320 kg our mobile pull-up bar withstands easily. On 1st August 2016 our crowdfunding campaign starts with our video, which goes viral in the Calisthenics scene. Within 24 hours we reach our financing target. What a rocket launch! In the end, we receive 224 pre-orders from athletes from over 20 nations worldwide.Final design & production
Our design has meanwhile received the final touch and can now really show one's face. We are finally satisfied both with the functionality as well as with the appearance of our mobile pull-up bar that we start the first serial production. Due to the many application possibilities and features, our product has obviously become expensive to manufacture. From laser cutting, bending, welding, grinding, sandblasting to final assembly, these are just a few steps in the production. But take a look at it yourself in our video :-)Final assembly & delivery
Our whole family is helping out during the final assembly and by the end of November 2016, 224 Pullup & Dip bars are leaving our first temporary assembly hall and heading into the wide world. Shortly thereafter, our online shop is launched and the Pullup & Dip bar is thus officially available on the market!More products
We are launching another variation of our mobile pull-up and dip bar, which is made of powder-coated steel with stainless steel handles and is therefore slightly cheaper. Shortly after, other matching accessories to our pull-up bars follow such as pull-up bands or gym rings, to complement the training optimally. From the garage to the first warehouse
Starting in the garage over two more smaller warehouses, we now need so much space that we decide to move to a new 250 sqm warehouse. We are thus well prepared for the future expansion and future new products. From here, our Pullup & Dip products are today shipped to more than 50 countries worldwide. Our own Parallettes
After months of developing and prototype testing, the time has finally come - we launch our own parallettes with ergonomic wooden handle and steel feet on the market. They complete our portfolio of high quality Calisthenics equipment.Publication of our own pushup bars
The feedback from the Parallettes is so great that we decide to develop a smaller version in the form of push-up bars. These also have the ergonomic wooden handle and are a real eye-catcher :-)Our team is growing...
Our team has meanwhile grown strongly. In the warehouse alone, 5 people work to assemble our products, print shipping labels, pack packages, and send them out to the world every day. In addition, we now have two working students who support us in marketing.Other pull-up bars in the range
We are expanding our pull-up bar portfolio with two more pull-up bars: a doorway pull-up bar for hanging in the door frame and a wall mounted pull-up bar.Covid beginning - The warehouse at full speed
The Corona peak phase began in March, and the rush for our products was higher than ever before. During this time, our team grew strongly once again. Everyone was at the limit to send out the shipments as quickly as possible.FREESIXD - Another Kickstarter Campaign
On 19 January 2020, we launched our crowdfunding campaign for our new innovation: FREESIXD. The campaign goal of 30,000€ was reached within 2 hours. So far, a total of 1,344 athletes worldwide contributed to the project with 267.100€.Shipped to over 1,500 pre-order customers
In July 2021, the time had come - the FREESIXD celebrates its premiere in our online store. At the same time, more than 1,500 FREESIXDS will be delivered to our pre-orderers and supporters worldwide.Opening US warehouse
In mid-November, our US Warehouse in Salt Lake City opened its doors. Athletes from the United States & Canada can now get their equipment even faster and cheaper. This is another milestone for us to offer everyone the possibility to train without compromise and 100% flexible.New office in Munich
In May 2022, we moved into our new office in Munich. From now on, our marketing team and our product development are located here. We have also set up a small office gym for product testing and photo and video shoots.Image video - We are Pullup & Dip
Just in time for the new year our image video was finished. There we give you a glimpse behind the scenes and show you how we manufacture our products and ship them to over 70 countries worldwide.Other brand CLEVO
In March 2023, we are breaking completely new ground. We welcome CLEVO: Climbing Evolution as a new brand under our roof. Under the brand CLEVO we now offer unique and individual climbing modules that allow climbers to train at home. With the new brand, we have also launched a new webshop: clevo-climbing.comFIBO Cologne 2024
In April 2024, we had our own stand at FIBO in Cologne, the world's largest fitness trade fair. Among other things, we presented our new ROCSIX training grip there, which was very well received by visitors.
You could also take part in our Hang Challenge on the rotating pull-up bar and win a whopping 100€ if you hang for 100 seconds. Congratulations to the one winner who made it! You can see impressions of FIBO in our video :-)
